Footnotes

  1. Leviticus 18:16 Your brother’s wife: the prohibition against sexual relations with a brother’s widow was qualified in Deut 25:5-6 to allow marriage when there was no male heir. In the New Testament, Herod’s disregard for this law incurs the condemnation of John the Baptist (see Mt 14:4; Mk 6:18).
